Making a meal plan generally results in me following it, and less trips for expensive food and less likely for a trip to the local restaurants. So here is my weekly meal plan for this week.
Monday – Chicken Stir Fry Pad Thai – £1.50
Tuesday – Carbonara Pasta £1.00
Wednesday – Kidney Bean Burgers 40p – http://wp.me/p3gbH4-gT
Thursday – Vegetable and fish finger burgers – 80p
Friday – Batchelors Pasta ‘n’ Sauce – £1.00
Saturday – Tuna and sweetcorn pasta – £1.20 (this will turn into lunch as well)
Sunday – Sweet and sour with rice – 50p
Monday – Bacon and Egg pasta – 46p – http://wp.me/p3gbH4-mT
I’ve designed a very inexpensive way of replicating the pad thai flavour with a jar of peanut butter and a seasame/ginger dressing mixed together. It goes well and reminds me of a pad thai for a fraction of the cost. This is perhaps not the cheapest of my meal plans but its the one we are going with. The cost is for the two of us. This week will cost us £6.86 for the eight days for both of us so per person this will cost £3.43. If we had refrained from the pad thai with the chicken and done it with bacon instead then it would have been a lot better. Having had the pad thai with bacon originally I did then get chicken to try it as that is how it is recommended but I think the bacon goes better. This is simply for dinners though, lunch will be sandwiches undoubtedly and breakfast cereal.
